30 September 2026 · SÜDPACK

A stakeholder survey published by SÜDPACK identifies efficiency, shelf life and circularity as major priorities for Germany’s meat and processed-meat industry. The findings describe investment in automation, digital connectivity and packaging concepts that can meet production and retailer requirements.

According to the manufacturer, modified-atmosphere and vacuum packaging remain established formats. Stand-up pouches are gaining interest for meat snacks and convenience products. Material reduction and mono-material designs are being considered alongside product protection and processing reliability.

Packaging perspective: The survey underlines the need to assess film structure, sealing performance, mechanical strength and machinability together. Its findings reflect the market participants surveyed; they should not be treated as a forecast for every country or processor.
