Pregis introduces metallized PE film for high-barrier food packaging

A mono-material polyethylene sealant film targets coffee, snacks and pet food, with How2Recycle store drop-off prequalification.

24 September 2026 · Pregis

Pregis has introduced a metallized polyethylene sealant film for high-barrier food packaging. The company says the mono-material PE solution offers an alternative to structures using metallized polypropylene or polyester, with applications including coffee, snacks and pet food.

According to Pregis, the film is prequalified for How2Recycle store drop-off recycling. Actual recyclability depends on the complete package construction and the availability of suitable collection facilities.

The material forms part of the company’s Performance Flexibles portfolio being presented at PACK EXPO International in Chicago, 18–21 October         2026.

Packaging perspective: The announcement highlights efforts to combine barrier protection with simpler material structures. Product-specific shelf-life, sealing and equipment trials remain essential when changing a packaging specification.
